Council tax increase for police
|
|
Devon and Cornwall Police is to increase the amount of money it gets through council tax by almost 8%.
It is above the government's recommendation of 5% and means taxpayers will pay on average an extra 20p a week for police.
For a band D property the increase represents an extra charge of just over £10 a year.
Chief Constable Steven Otter said the extra revenue will mean an additional 200 officers on the beat.
