Football star Steven Gerrard, boxer Ricky Hatton and TV actor Johnny Briggs lead the North West roll call in the New Year Honours list.
Briggs, 71, from Salford, who played the part of businessman Mike Baldwin in the TV soap Coronation Street has been made a CBE for services to acting.
Manchester boxer Ricky Hatton has become an MBE for services to sport.
England midfielder and Liverpool footballer Steven Gerrard has been made a CBE for his services to sport.

Gerrard said he was thrilled and honoured to receive the award for "for playing a game I've loved all my life".
"I'd like to accept this on behalf of all those people who have been so supportive to me throughout my career, all my team-mates over the years, everyone at Liverpool Football Club, everyone at Team England," he said.
Mancunian Hatton turned professional in 1997 when he was 18-years-old after a match at Kingsway Leisure Centre in Widnes, Cheshire.
This year Hatton stepped up to welterweight and said the MBE award was a great surprise.

"When I first laced on the gloves I never thought I would become a world champion, let alone receive an MBE from the Queen," he said.
"I am proud of the fact I have been awarded the MBE for services to sport because as far as I am concerned it is just as important to be a world champion outside the ring, supporting local projects and charities, as it is inside the ring.
"I have never met the Queen and to be honest there will be a few sweaty palms that day."

Johnny Briggs has recently retired from Coronation Street after spending 30 years with the show.
In May he won the British Soap Award for Lifetime Achievement and said the hectic filming schedule was the main reason for his departure from Coronation Street.
Others recognised in the Queen's New Year Honours list include Ms Kathryn Kane, a constable for Merseyside Police, who is appointed an OBE.
Chief Constable Bernard Hogan-Howe said: "Kath is a great police woman who is dedicated and caring and is a positive role model for other women in the force."
