Red squirrels are under threat from their grey cousins

Conservationists are hoping to recruit eagle-eyed members of the public to help protect endangered red squirrels.
More than 70% of England's remaining red squirrel population is found in the north, mainly in Kielder, and outposts of the Cheviots.
There are fears that grey squirrels, which carry a virus harmless to themselves but fatal to reds, are encroaching on their territory.
People can help by reporting sightings of red squirrels.
Experts are holding two public meetings to explain what steps are being taken to save red squirrels from the advancing tide of greys.
These will be at the Rose and Thistle public house, Alwinton, Northumberland on 1 March, and at the Gilsland Spa Hotel, near Brampton in Cumbria on 8 March.
