Duke tops rich list again

The Duke's main residence is an estate near Chester
The Duke of Westminster has once again been named as the richest person in the UK.

The Duke, who lives in Eaton Hall, Eccleston, near Chester, is valued at £4,900m by the Sunday Times Rich List.

His large property holdings include 300 acres in the valuable Mayfair and Belgravia areas of London, as well as estates in Lancashire, Cheshire and Scotland.

His property firm Grosvenor Holdings is involved in the £750m redevelopment of a 42-acre site in Liverpool City Centre as well as the Tithebarn regeneration project in Preston.

Other prominent North West personalities in the list include Sir Paul McCartney.

Baking magnates

The ex-Beatle is the 29th richest person in the UK and is valued at £760m while his former bandmate Ringo Starr is worth £115m.

Bolton baking magnates, the Warburton family, are 180th in the list and said to be worth £175m.

Former Manchester United chairman Martin Edwards is 299th, valued at £108m.

And Owen Oyston - the 69-year-old former chairman of Blackpool FC who was released four years ago after serving a sentence for rape - is 359th in the list and valued at £90m.
