Fire started at Lincoln jail
Lincoln Prison
The prison was devastated during last year's riot
Investigations have begun into a fire at Lincoln Prison which is thought to have been started deliberately.

The fire began at a textile workshop leaving a small area severely damaged.

A wing at the prison was smoke damaged following the fire which began just before 1145 GMT on Wednesday.

The fire had been put out by prison officers by the time the fire brigade had arrived.

A day earlier a minor fire had started in the underfloor heating system.

The jail suffered a major fire during serious riots four months ago.

Police are still investigating the riot in October where more than 150 inmates went on a rampage.

One prisoner, Lee Blake, 37, of Scunthorpe, later died from a drugs overdose.

A Prison Service inquiry into the riot is also expected to be completed soon.
