One dead in 'wrong way' crash
One man has died in an accident involving two cars on the M65 in Lancashire.

Police said they believed the man had driven his car the wrong way down an exit slip road at junction six at Whitebirk, near Blackburn.

He died at the scene of the crash, which happened at about 0715 GMT on Friday.

The driver of the other car has been taken to hospital with serious injuries.

A section of the carriageway was closed in both directions after the crash, but it has since re-opened.

Traffic was diverted off the motorway at Haslingden and through Blackburn, leading to congestion.

Queues on the M65 itself stretched back as far as junction three in Wheelton.
