Hospital to recruit nurses in India
Northampton General Hospital needs orthopaedic nurses
Northampton General needs orthopaedic nurses
A hospital in Northamptonshire is looking abroad to solve its nurse shortage.

Four senior nurses from Northampton General Hospital will visit India in February to interview prospective nurses.

The hospital hopes to find staff for posts in the new orthopaedic theatres and wards.

They hope to bring back about 35 nurses.

The NHS has been criticised for "poaching" nurses from developing countries, but the Department of Health has encouraged recruitment from countries with a surplus of nurses.

It has signed agreements which allow trusts to recruit nurses in India, Spain, and the Philippines.
