The 10 staff from the Nicholl Grange residential home in West Bromwich matched six numbers in a lotto draw on 11 January.

On Friday the group revealed that, at first, they had not realised the scale of their win.

Syndicate leader Cindy Williams, of Halesowen, handed in the winning ticket, unaware it had scooped the jackpot.

She said: "We were all really pleased just with the win for five numbers.

"When I eventually discovered that we had won the jackpot, you can imagine everyone's reactions - we were all delighted."

The group plays 10 lines in every Saturday lotto draw and the winning line - 9, 18, 22, 26, 37 and 41 - was a random selection of numbers chosen by Elaine Hoult, of Oldbury.

Each member of the syndicate will receive £211,121.

While most are planning to spend their winnings on home improvements, new houses and cars, two members of the syndicate are planning to marry.

Pauline Robinson, 53, from Wolverhampton, and Peter Smith, 55, from Wednesfield, will use their share of the money to get married and have a dream honeymoon in Florida.

The other members of the syndicate are Ian Carter, Audrey Dunn, David Moore, Carol Wright and Lindsey Law.
