Violence erupted at the annual three-day festival in the early hours of 25 August last year.

The court heard up to 200 revellers went on the rampage at Temple Newsam Park causing more than £250,000 of damage to property.

Nicolas Jones, 18, of Smithy Lane, Acton, Wrexham, and Stuart Gunn, 18, of Glasgow Road, Strathaven, East Kilbride, pleaded guilty to using or threatening unlawful violence at Leeds Magistrates' Court on Tuesday.

'War zone'

Prosecutor Helen Gaunt told the court temporary toilets and a portable building were burned to the ground and police, sent to restore order, came under a hail of missiles.

Mrs Gaunt said witnesses at the time described the scene as "a war zone".

The two men will be sentenced at Leeds Crown Court at a later date.

Seven other men, charged with offences relating to the violence did not enter a plea and are to appear at Leeds Crown Court for trial.

One man facing charges relating to the violence, failed to appear at court.
