US servicemen discharged over drugs
RAF Lakenheath
Two airmen faced a court martial
Two airman have been discharged from a US airbase in the UK after an investigation into illegal drug use.

Senior Airman Marks Horton and Airman 1st Class Thomas Kleitz went before court martials following a major undercover operation into drug use at RAF Lakenheath.

Horton and Kleitz, both of the 48th Fighter Wing, admitted breaking the United States Air Force (USAF) rules forbidding the "wrongful use of controlled substances".

The USAF investigation, revealed in October, saw 27 members of staff at the base questioned.

Kleitz was sentenced to three and a half months confinement, reduction to airman basic and a bad conduct discharge, for the wrongful use possession and distribution of ecstasy.

They are serving their sentences at RAF Lakenheath.
