Man charged over speed bump damage
Mr Beesley said he used a digger to destroy the bump
A man from Oxford has been charged with criminal damage after he admitted digging up a speed bump outside his home.
Ian Beesley from Ferry Hinksey Road in West Oxford is accused of causing criminal damage to the road surface. Mr Beesley said he dug up the speed bump because of the noise made by lorries as they drove over it.
He arrived at St Aldates Police Station in Oxford driving a JCB and emerged an hour later with his solicitor Nicholas Cotter, who confirmed Mr Beesley had been charged with causing criminal damage. He returned to find the JCB with a parking ticket. He is due to appear at Oxford Magistrates Court for a preliminary hearing on Friday.
