The 11-year-old, who cannot be named for legal reasons, was last month found guilty of attacking classmate Josh Huggins, 10.

He threw a 2ft long plastic pipe with a jagged end at Josh, and it bounced off a stone driveway, hitting him in the face and causing irreparable damage.

Appearing before a youth court in Salisbury on Tuesday, he was fined £1,000 and placed under a two-year supervision order.

Josh has been told he will never recover the sight in his right eye after the attack in Westbury.

Last month the court heard Josh and his friends had been plagued by the gang of older boys for three years.

Giving evidence via a CCTV link, Josh said the boys had picked on him and called him names.

And a friend of the defendant said the boy had "gone mental" when Josh threw a water balloon back at him, and it burst, soaking him.
