Charity defends hostel plans
Homeless people
The hostel would provide shelter for homeless people
A charity which is planning to turn a disused hotel in Loughborough into a hostel for homeless people says local residents should support the plan.

Some people living near the Corporation Hotel off Leicester Road are worried the development could attract people with drug or drink problems.

But aid charity Lifelines for the Homeless says the hostel will be run along strict lines.

Spokeswoman Jesse Warrington said: "Rumours have been going around that the hostel will take in paedophiles and sex offenders.

"This is not the case and we simply cannot take in this sort of person.

"We want to be a positive influence on the neighbourhood and the hostel will have strict rules where no drink and drugs are allowed."
