Striking crews assist fire rescues
Green Goddess crew
Miltary crews were assisted by fire fighters
Striking firefighters have helped rescue two men in separate incidents in North Yorkshire.

One man was rescued from a fire above a shop in Scarborough and another was brought to safety from a burning house in York.

Steven Carr was taken to York District Hospital after being saved from an upstairs room in a house in the Groves area of the city.

An unnamed man from Scarborough was taken to hospital after finding himself trapped on a window ledge above a burning sports shop in Pavilion Terrace.

On both occasions military Green Goddesses and breathing apparatus rescue teams were joined by fire engines manned by striking firefighters.

Green Goddess crews answered six separate calls in North Yorkshire between 2130 GMT on Sunday and 0600 GMT on Monday.
