Council 'bans' travelling family
A travellers' site
The council acted against the head of a travelling family
Northampton Borough Council has obtained an interim injunction against the head of a travelling family.

The order bans Kay Connors from living anywhere in the town without the permission of the landowner.

The authority said it had taken the legal action because the family caused so many problems.

Kay Connors: Denied causing trouble

The council claimed the problems included trespassing and rubbish left when the family moved on.

The family's solicitor, Sharon Baxter, who represented them at the court hearing, said the Connors denied they were a nuisance.

She also believed that the ban would be a breach of the family's human rights.

The interim injunction was granted at Leicester Crown Court on Monday.
