Hospital clear of vomiting bug
Virus
The virus has affected hundreds of staff and patients
A Northamptonshire hospital has been given the all clear after five weeks of restrictions due to the winter vomiting virus.

Since the beginning of October, hundreds of staff and patients at Kettering General Hospital have been infected with the bug.

Officials say the hospital will return to normal working from Monday because the number of people suffering with the virus has dropped from more than 10 a day to fewer than five.

The infection, also know as the "small round virus", causes diarrhoea and vomiting.

Visiting restrictions

All wards are now open and classified free of infection.

However visiting restrictions are staying in place until the end of next week.

Family and friends of patients are being reminded not to visit unless absolutely necessary.

For the last few weeks routine operations have been postponed.
