London man's body found in Gambia
Map showing Senegal and Gambia
The body of a former soldier in the Royal Corps of Signals has been found in a shallow grave in West Africa.

Scotland Yard says Ronald Ford, 66, from south London, is thought to have been shot during a robbery.

Four Metropolitan Police officers from the Serious Crime Group went to Gambia on 18 October to help local authorities in the search.

Gambian police have arrested four men in connection with the suspected murder.

Radio enthusiast

The grave was discovered just within the border of neighbouring Senegal.

Police say Mr Ford lived for part of the year in Gambia, where he had built a home for himself a year ago.

The amateur radio enthusiast was last heard from by a friend on 27 September.

Arrangements are being made to return the body to the UK where a post-mortem examination will take place.
