Farmers block supermarket depot
Protest
The protest was organised by Farmers for Action
Farmers formed a blockade outside a Sainsbury's depot in Bristol in protest at what they say are unfair milk prices.

Farmers blocked the Emerald Park depot, near Emerson's Green, on Sunday night.

Five tractors stopping delivery lorries from entering or leaving the depot.

The protest, which was monitored by police, was organised by the pressure group Farmers for Action (FFA) and continued until the early hours of Monday morning.

'Farmers angry'

James Badham, one of the organisers of the protest, said the supermarket had been targeted because it had refused to enter into discussions with dairy farmers following a dispute with milk producer Dairy crest over prices.

He added: "Tesco, Somerfield and Morrisons have all said they are not happy about the way the money is being passed back down the chain.

"But Sainsbury's are not prepared to open any dialogue with us. It is really angering the farmers.

"We are now going into the winter at least 4p a litre less than last year with farm costs the same, if not higher."
