Derek Randall said his wife was left in pain for 30 minutes after he dialled 999 and the ambulance went to the other side of town.

He lives in Limberg Drive in Spalding but the ambulance was sent to the similarly-named Lindbergh Drive, on a new estate.

Mr Randall is now calling for the new road to have a name change and has called in the local council.

He said: "I personally have had a person turn up to deliver pizza, we have had taxis turn up which hadn't been ordered.

"One neighbour even had turn away some furniture which they tried to deliver.

"Our biggest concern really crystallized when my wife had abdominal pains and the ambulance went to the wrong address and there was a delay of about 30 minutes.

"When it is the essential services like ambulances or the fire brigade it does cease to be funny.

'Common sense'

"Ideally we would like the council to change the name of the new road."

Councillor Roger Gambba-Jones, deputy leader of South Holland District Council, said there would be a meeting including residents from both streets.

"What the public look to us the council to do is to take the common sense approach.

"If there is no compromise then we actually have to say then this must happen because there is a big issue with public safety."
