Two thousand people living in and around Towcester are being asked to take part in an survey.

Researchers from the University of Plymouth are hoping to find out more about towns like Towcester so they can come up with ways of strengthening and revitalising them.

Questionnaires are being sent to householders, farmers and businesses in the town and to nearby villages like Silverstone and Tiffield.

People will be asked about their shopping habits and lifestyles.

In November, some families will be selected to keep a diary of their shopping trips.

The information will then be used to create an "economic footprint" of the area, showing how money is earned and spent.
