Woman injured as car smashes into house
The Warrens' house after a car crashed into it
Mrs Warren is still in hospital after the accident
A woman has suffered a fractured spine after being thrown across her living room when a stolen car crashed through the front wall of her home.

Pauline Warren and her husband Brian were showered in glass and bricks when the car crashed into their home at Pensnett in Dudley, West Midlands.

Neighbours said the young male driver was trying to do a handbrake turn when he lost control of the Peugeot 405 car.

They said he ran from the scene shouting, "I'm sorry".

The accident happened at about 1800 BST on Tuesday when the couple were sitting next to their living room window.

Brian Warren's brother, John, told BBC Midlands Today: "The brickwork went across the living room, smashing items and knocking his wife on the settee across the living room and hitting my brother in the armchair, which knocked him upside down."

Mrs Warren, 61, is still in Russells Hall Hospital in Dudley.

Mr Warren, 63, who is suffering from lung cancer, was treated for injuries to his hand and leg.

Police have now taken away the beige Peugeot 405 - believed to be stolen - for tests.

They are trying to trace the driver, who is said to be in his mid-20s and probably local.

Although the crash caused extensive damage to the house, it is thought it can be repaired.
