Recycled garden opens for wildlife
Recycled garden
The garden is full of reused waste materials
A wildlife garden made entirely from recycled rubbish has opened in Gloucester.

It has been set up to mark the 40th anniversary of the Gloucestershire Wildlife Trust.

TV gardener Chris Baines officially opened the garden, which took nine months to create.

The site, at Robinswood Hill Country Park, features old wooden pallets for fencing, a carpet to line the pond, reclaimed paving stones and a dead tree to attract nesting birds.

'Skills shortage'

It is hoped the garden will inspire people to help reduce the burden on local landfill sites by showing them how recycled and reclaimed materials can be used.

But the trust is warning that without more support for conservation, projects like this could be under threat.

It says there will be a skills shortage unless more training is made available for people who want to learn about conservation.

The recycled garden will become an educational resource, teaching children about wildlife and conservation.
