The Army is to investigate the deaths of two young soldiers in shooting incidents in Surrey.

The two 17-year-olds died after being shot in the head while on patrol at the Royal Logistics Corps headquarters in Deepcut.

Private Geoff Gray, from Hackney, London, was shot in the head twice while on patrol in September and on Saturday Private James Collinson, from Perth, Scotland, was discovered with a single gunshot wound to the head.

The Army will set up two separate boards of inquiry into the shootings while Surrey Police will be investigating Private Collinson's death.

Public inquiry

However Private Gray's parents Diane and Geoff Gray are unhappy with the Army's handling of the deaths.

They feel that there should be a full public inquiry into both incidents.

An inquest into the death of Private Gray recorded an open verdict - although the coroner that he did not think he had taken his own life.

There were also reports that witnesses saw a man running from the scene of the shooting.
