Ambulance boss suspended
Mr Chubb was observing the work of an emergency crew
The chief executive of the East Midlands Ambulance Service has been suspended - allegedly for telling paramedics to ignore a 999 call.
Adrian Chubb has been suspended on full pay from his £74,000 job pending an investigation. His suspension is thought to relate to an incident last month in Leicester when Mr Chubb was travelling with an ambulance crew to observe its work. It is believed he told the crew to disregard emergency calls from a persistent caller.
It is understood the crew responded to a 999 call and treated a patient. However, the patient then made several further calls which were put through to the ambulance. Mr Chubb is alleged to have told the paramedics to ignore those. The East Midlands Ambulance Service is refusing to confirm the exact details of why Mr Chubb has been suspended. A spokesman said an investigator from another ambulance service would be appointed within the next few days to look into reports concerning protocol. "We are taking our responsibilities very seriously," he said. |
