Movement of prisoners 'pointless'

The Chief Prisons Inspector for England and Wales, Dame Anne Owers, has told BBC Breakfast that she is "surprised" at the "pointless" actions of two London prisons, moving vulnerable inmates between jails ahead of inspections.

Dame Anne described both Wandsworth and Pentonville as "reasonably good, well-run prisons", and said that "the presence of those prisoners wouldn't have affected our inspectors' assessments".

Five senior prison managers are to face disciplinary charges.
