Chipmaker Advanced Micro Devices (AMD) has reported a bigger-than-expected loss, as its ongoing price battle with market leader Intel takes its toll.
AMD made a net loss of $611m (£305m) in the first three months of 2007, compared with a profit of $185m in the first quarter of last year.
The world's second-largest maker of computer microchips behind Intel, AMD said its revenues fell 7.4% to $1.23bn.
Intel has also been hit by the price war, with its latest revenues down 1%.
AMD admitted its results were "unacceptable".
