Tough competition and high fuel prices are facing Easyjet
|
UK budget airline Easyjet saw passenger numbers jump by 24% in August, compared with the same month of 2003.
The carrier carried 2.46 million people to destinations across Europe.
The load factor, which measures the number of seats filled as a percentage of the airline's total capacity, was up 0.5% to 88.6%.
Easyjet shares dived in June after the group warned oil costs and a price war in the no-frills airline sector would dent its performance this year.
"August was a good month for easyJet with load factors up marginally despite the late UK bank holiday pushing demand for return journeys into September," said chief executive Ray Webster.
