Efficiency drives boost profits at food group Uniq
|
UK food group Uniq has shrugged off a bout of avian flu to report a rise in interim profits, and expects fatter profits in the run up to Christmas.
The company, which supplies luxury stuffed turkey breasts to Marks & Spencer, has been hampered by a tough poultry market due to the flu's impact.
But the demise of the illness and efficiency drives at its 30-odd factories helped the firm lift profits.
Pre-exceptional profits were up by 13% to £11.4m ($18.95m).
